This is the same soft, silky, and incredibly durable fabric as used in Cirque du Soleil. Beware of other products made of stiff, cheap, thin, or scratchy parachute fabric, and always choose nylon tricot over polyester as it is the stronger, less slippery and safer option. Our yoga hammock fabric is light, breathable, and sturdy - holding up to 400 pounds! It has a low-medium level of stretch, so you feel cocooned yet secure. All hammocks are 2.4-2.8 meters or 9.2 feet wide so you can stretch out in the fabric. Prints and ombres are narrower, and solid colors are slightly wider.

The amount of space you need will depend on the style of classes that you teach. If you're teaching aerial dance or classes with a lot of motion, you'll need more space (7-10 foot radius to avoid collisions). For traditional aerial yoga, it is most important to have space to the front and back of the hammocks. If hanging in rows, keep in mind your wingspan and plan accordingly. Studios can leave anywhere from 4-6 feet between each hammock, and be sure to have at least 6 feet between each row. We recommend staggering the hammocks for maximum space usage, and you may be able to fit more this way.

Always consult a licensed professional rigger or engineer to assess your studio and install the hammocks. A professional rigger can be found at local live theaters, construction companies, etc. Since there are many different types of overhead environments, Uplift Active does not provide instructions on how to rig a hammock. You may require span sets or additional equipment depending on your ceiling type. Uplift Active cannot be responsible for improper or irresponsible rigging; please protect your students and ensure they are safe!

When assembled, the hammocks are fully height adjustable. They can be hung easily in spaces 8-10 ft tall without extra length, and if your ceilings are taller (or you want extra length), you can use additional rigging equipment or daisy chains. The standard size can be used in slightly higher ceilings, up to 12 feet, but you may not be able to have low-height hammocks. Fully assembled at maximum height, the hammock with included rigging equipment (daisy chains and carabiners) hangs about 10 ft long.

Consider these factors: how low do you need the fabric to come to the ground, what other equipment do you use to rig, and what knots do you prefer? The fabric can hang as long as 7 ft when knotted, the daisy chains provide an additional 3.5 ft, and the carabiners provide an extra 3-4 inches.
