Lightweight Stainless Steel Tabless Lyra

$168.00 USD Regular price $249.99 USD
Description

The Aerial Hoop, also known as Lyra, is a circus apparatus used to perform beautiful movements and shapes in the air.

These Uplift Active hoops are perfect for everyone, from beginners to professionals. They are hollow, stainless steel, and tabless, allowing for full flexibility and more movement than tabbed hoops. Each tabless ring is available in a double-point or single-point aerial ring.

What is an Aerial Hoop or Lyra?

The Aerial Hoop, also known as “Lyra”, is a metal apparatus (made of hollow steel) that looks like a suspended hula-hoop. Aerial hoops are usually available in single-point and double-point lyra configurations.

What Are My Tabless Lyra Rigging Options?

- A basic setup is to use:
- 1 Round Sling
- 2 Swivel Kit

The round slings would be choked over your hoop, and the carabiners and swivel would attach your hoop to an overhead mounting point. If you want to rig a tabless hoop as a double-point hoop, you will need two round slings and will need to use either a spreader plate or tape down the slings to avoid sliding in use.

Size

Available in two grip sizes:

The 24.3mm Grip is the aerial industry standard diameter of tubing. It is perfect for performances, tricks, and drops. Suitable for aerialists who are comfortable with the smaller handgrip.

The 34mm Grip is thicker than standard and provides a more comfortable grip for beginners or those transitioning from pole fitness.

Available in these sizes:

31 inch (800mm) diameter
33 inch (850mm) diameter
35 inch (900mm) diameter
37 inch (950mm) diameter
39 inch (1000mm) diameter

Measurements are taken from inside diameter, which allows you to have the correct distance from your head to the upper bar. The millimeter measurement is the most accurate dimension.

What size is best for me?

We recommend measuring to make sure you get the right size hoop, but sizing on the hoops is a little flexible and up to personal preference. Bigger hoops are better for certain tricks and practice styles, and smaller hoops are better for others. Smaller hoops tend to be a little easier to work with, but most aerialists like the hoops to be big enough to sit in. To measure, you can sit in a chair and measure from your bottom to the top of your head and add two inches.

Measuring is important as people carry their height differently. But, as a general guideline, people under 5'0 will choose a 31 inch hoop, 5'1-5'3 may choose a 33 inch hoop, 5'3-5'5 may choose a 35 inch hoop, 5'5-5'7 may choose a 37 inch hoop, and 5'7-5'10 may choose a 39 inch hoop

Safety

Safety Tips for Aerial Fitness:

- Use a mat under your apparatus
-Always practice with a spotter for flips and harder moves
- Learn from a professional. Books, YouTube, and videos are a great source, but we highly recommend attending an Aerial Class
- Always check your equipment before each use to make sure damage has not occurred at any time and that the rigging is secure
- Although the hoop has a smooth surface, we recommend that you tape your hoops for both hygiene issues and safety issues.

First hoop that I owed.

I've been using for a year. This is my first hoop that I owed. It’s been good so far. My product arrived in great conditions. Customer service were amazing, answered all my questions.

This hoop have 2 inches apart from the top of the head to the hoop. I think it needs more space to have better free movement. Aerial hoop companies had different standards measurements which could be confusing if you are beginner. Make sure to search what’s the best distance for you before you committed

Thanks so much for your feedback on your hoop! While our sizing guidlines are a good guidline to figuring out what size is best for you, these are just recommedations . Personal preferance is also a factor as some aerialists like their hoops to have more or less room depending on what they like:)

Just a little small

The hoop arrived quickly which I appreciated but I have since realized that the size is 0.95 inches in grip diameter (24.3mm Grip), whereas the hoops at my studio are 1inch. Surprisingly, I can very much feel the missing 0.05 inches and the hoop really digs in and is more painful being slightly smaller. I'm going to stick with it because shipping such a large item back is a huge pain, but I don't use it as often for this reason which makes me very sad. I'm definitely not in love with my own hoop :-(

Hello Melinda,

Thank you so much for your feedback! So sorry to hear you don't love your hoop:/ Although most of our customer's prefer the 24.3mm standard grip, some do prefer a larger grip. We do offer our hoops in a 34mm grip(1.3 inches) for future orders:)

Take Care,

Great apparatus

Very nicely made tabless lyra. We have been using it for weeks, and it's working great. There was a little issue with the shipping confirmations (we ordered the lyra and tape, which were shipped separately, around Christmas). But I got a prompt response from the company and all our items arrived without any issue. We have gotten silks, a lyra, tape and rigging hardware from Uplift, and they're all great.

Great quality!

I am very happy with my hoop. Shipping took longer than expected, but you know what they say about good things being worth the wait. I'm so happy I was able to find a tabless hoop. It's good quality, not too heavy, but seems durable. I'm 5'11" and got the 39". I've been using for around 2 months and have no complaints.
